Another pair!I know, i'm obsessed by handwarmers..but i really love them!
These are in a beautiful emerald green Merinos extrafine wool, soft and cozy.
The pattern? A sudden inspiration, that i've obviously wrote down to share..every girl should have a pair of this!
Materials:
One ball 100% Merinos wool extrafine (50g/135m) Emerald Green
4.00mm Straight Needles
Abbreviations:
k = knit
p = purl
st/sts = stitch/stitches
Moss stitch:
Row1: *k1,p1*
Row2: *p1,k1*
Stockinette stitch:
Row1: knit across
Row2: purl across
Double Moss stitch:
Row1-2: *k1,p1*
Row3-4: *p1,k1*
Handwarmers (make two!):
Cast on 34 sts.
Work in Moss st for 3 Rows.
Work in Stockinette st for 12 Rows (you should end up with a purl row).
Start with Double Moss stitch, and repeat the pattern rows 6 times, ending with row4.
Work 4 Rows in Stockinette st and then 3 more rows in Moss st.
Bind off loosely in Moss st using a 5.00mm needle.
Finishing:
Fold in half the piece and sew sides:
from top down 2cm.
from bottom up 8cm
leaving 3,5cm open for thumb hole.

I feel like an idiot...I started knitting these on dpns before I realized you knit them flat... *shrugs* They don't look any different than your's so far, so I'm not stopping now, haha!

I made a pair! Woohooo! I love them and they actually look like yours, although a bit stretched from wearing. Thank you so much. I used some double knitting yarn I had around for 4mm needles. I could only find 4.5mm and used those, it still worked fine.undist

I attempted these using 4.5mm needles with DK acrylic yarn but the one I made came out HUGE! my hand and wrist were literally swimming in the glove! So I frogged it and plan to start again maybe reducing the stitches and double moss repeats.
My question is, does having a tighter tension with knitting make much difference in size? I tend to knit loosely but not real loose, more slightly loose.

Great pattern, especially for last-minute holiday knitting! They're really easy and quick to make, and the finished project is quite fancy. I know a couple of ladies who'll be getting a pair of these this year.

These are completely lovely! I just made a pair as a Christmas gift for my mother, and my roommate, upon seeing me with the finished product, promptly demanded a pair as her Christmas gift! I've never made handwarmers before but these are so cute and easy, I know I'll be using this pattern all the time!
Thank-you so much for this pattern. Ultra cute mitts! However, I was a bit confused when starting out. It appears that your "moss stitch" is actually a seed stitch, and your "double moss stitch" is actually a regular moss stitch. I ended up going with a traditional moss stitch and double moss stitch after all and it came out cute nonetheless. Thank-you!
